Life story
December 22, 1994

Patches was born on December 22, 1994 on a cold winter morning in Clarkston Washington it was snowing outside with two feet of snow already on the ground. I prayed for a White Christmas that year and was blessed twice and the greatest blessing of the two was Patches coming into my life. God had a purpose for him in my life and that was so I wouldn't be alone anymore and have someone to share my life with. He was like a child growing up in his younger years always getting into anything and everything and always voiced his opinion "Boy He Was A Talker". It was fun watching him play and when he noticed you watching him he would stop and voice his opinion like saying "What Are You Looking At" then go back to playing. He loved to chase empty crumples up cigarette packs. I would toss them into the kitchen and he would take off burning rubber and since the kitchen floor was tile he would ending up slidding into the wall then take off again trying to get traction and bring it back to me. This went on for three or four times then always on the last time he would just plop on the floor and play with it or expect me to come get it.

As he got older he tended to just slow down and take the easy life and really enjoyed it. He was happy and content and really showed it. One thing that everybody loved about him was that to him you were family and he loved to talk to you and give you kisses. The cutest thing was watching him go to the door when someone knocked or rang the doorbell and sometimes you would hear him meow bark. Sometimes I wondered if he thought he was a dog or something. As he continued to get older he would love to just sit by the window and look out all day long with an occassional break to eat or see what I was up to. He still liked to play every once in awhile and still like those crumpled up cigarette packs but just wasn't as active as he use to be.

In June of 2000 I found a girlfriend and her, her kids and I moved into a house we decided to rent. It was a nice three bedroom house with a finished basement and let me tell you that Patches was so happy to have a new house to explore and more people that he could love. You could say he was in Seventh Heaven. As his years progressed you could tell that he was starting to slow down even more, he would sleep longer and just relax by the windows when he was awake. In 2005 I separated from my relationship and moved to Las Vegas in May. I think that was a real shocker for him, it was just him and I again and in a totally different climate and new surroundings. The last four years of his life he was just an old fellow who just wanted to relax and talk and share his love as much as he could and wanted all the attention while doing so. He definitly loved people and really loved me without any restrictions, an undivided, unconditional love that we all look for.

On June 9th, 2009 he suffered a heart attack which really put the brakes on for both of us. He spent two days at the Veterinary Hospital and came home every night. For the next week and a half he seemed to be getting better, his breathing was more relaxed and not sluggish and was eating and getting back to his old self. On Thursday June 18th he went in for a check up and all seemed to be ok. His blood preasure was lower and his heart rate was better and the X-Rays showed inprovement. All seemed well but then the next day Friday June 19th in the evening he had another heart attacked and became real week. I could not get ahold of the vet because she was out of town and would not be back till Saturday so I call the Emergency Hospital and the Dr asked me some questions and thought he would be ok for the night and to bring him in first thing in the morning. When I brought him in his breating was sluggish and had fluid build up in his lungs (Pulminary Adema) which was caused by the heart attack. They did a chest tap with a needle and removed most of the bloody fluid from his lungs which helped him breath easier but was told that he probably would not make it through the night and wanted me to leave him there. I said no because if he was going to pass it would be better if he was in his own enviorment in his own bed with people who loved him. After being up with him for two days at 9:45 pm I dozed off for a hour when my eyes suddenly opened and looked and he was not in his bed which I had brought into my room so I could keep an eye on him. I got up and rushed into his room and found him on the floor in spasms and not breathing. I tried CPR but had no luck. At 10:49 pm Saturday June 20th The Lord took him home to be with Him.

The last two weeks of his life he really depended on me and still talked to me and gave me kisses and really showed me how much I meant to him and how much he really loved me. We became so close to eachother that it made it even harder for me to say Goodbye. I guess when I put the Cross around his neck before he passed away was like me offering him to the Lord and the Lord said Thy Will Be Done. He is my one and only little boy and my life will never be the same. I look forward to the day the Lord brings me home and Patches will be standing next to Jesus welcoming me home to relive our memories and never to be separated again.
